Here’s you first look at the trailer for the new short film "Roubado" (Portuguese for “stolen”), made by writer/director Erica Watson, which she says she made because of her “passion to tell stories of the black faces that you don’t often get to see on the screen.”
Ms. Watson, a Detroit native who is a recent graduate of the MFA program at USC’s School of Cinematic Arts, says that she was inspired to make the film after a chance meeting with a young Afro-Portuguese photographer at Cannes, 3 years ago, where the film was shot (as well as in Los Angeles), and was entirely funded through a Kickstarter campaign, for which they raised considerably more than what was…
