Written and directed by Jevonne Bowman-Bullock, "Violation" is a short film that "explores sexual violence against African American women through the lens of Shayla, a female combat veteran, and her experience with street harassment. Juxtaposing the experience of living in violent communities with the dangerous and unpredictable environment of war, Violation explores PTSD as a valid response to both."
Bowman-Bullock says she was inspired to write the story after experiencing street harassment on her way to and from independent film sets in the wee hours in New York City.
