Schoolteacher David L. Carter is chief information officer of Austin WebFest, which is accepting applications from Web content creators in a variety of categories until March 31. Submit your series at austinwebfestival.com!
What is Austin WebFest? We’re the only truly dedicated Web fest in the state of Texas and we’re proud of that fact. We love this city and love to show it off. You don’t have to be in the film industry to enjoy it. We’ve got a great city!
What is your role?I spearhead communication with people who are submitting. I’m a point person for them, so if they have any questions, they can come directly to me. And I’m tracking demographic information to help us with sponsors.
When are where will the festival take place?June 25–27. We use the Alamo Drafthouse [Cinema] here in Austin. What’s great is you can sit down, have pizza, burgers, beer, and wine while watching the film; it’s a great Austin tradition. They’re famous for their zero tolerance for cellphone use and texting; they kick people out. Mark Hamill just did a PSA for them saying, “Don’t use your phone!”
What makes a great Web series? It’s no different from a film
