Here we are again in the season of joy and Thanksgiving! I have decided that instead of getting stressed to a point of paralysis—my potential holiday default mode—I would just give thanks for everything and let the rest go. So far so good!

One of the most gratifying experiences I have as a teacher is meeting actors exactly where they are in their lives and careers and jumping with them into the vast sea of creative possibilities. The synergy between the teacher and the student that arises along this journey is the joy of my life and the reason for the success of many of my students. Here are just a few forms this inspiring and dynamic interconnectedness takes.
Love. When teaching acting or any creative discipline, I believe that you need to get to know each student to some extent. I just don’t think you can teach someone well that you don’t know. You’re asking someone to go deep inside, sometimes to the places that scare them, and each person needs to be led to those places in a way that resonates with their particular personality.
