Ado Ekiti — The Ekiti State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has faulted the decision of the federal government and the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) in the release of retired Col Ja’afaru Isa. The party wondered why he was released after being quizzed by the EFCC over his involvement in the alleged $2.1 billion arms deal.
In a statement by its publicity secretary, Jackson Adebayo, in Ado Ekiti, the PDP also faulted the EFCC’s claim that Isa was released after refunding N100 million out of N170 million said to be in his custody, with an understanding to scout for the balance. The PDP noted that the case of Isa, a former military administrator of Kaduna State, was “concocted by the EFCC and the federal government as a cover-up”. “The whole thing was like a drama from Nollywood, where you can see the end of a film from the beginning. The arrest, purported refund of N100 million by Isa and his eventual release was a charade taken too far.”
