Lagos — For numerous fans who trooped en masse to watch the live performance of Bukola Elemide, popularly known as Asa, there perhaps could not have been a better outing to attend on the global Workers Day than the first-ever concert being organized by their most adored singer.
The event, which took place at the prestigious Eko Hotel and Suites, was a sold out concert, packed with music lovers, corporate individuals, socialites and celebrities.
To spice the night, the event was opened with performances by MOBO Award winning Singer, Rachel Kerr; Project Fame alumni, Isaac Geralds; Soul Fusion artist, Falana; singer and pianist Kaliné; producer and song writer Cobhams Asuquo and alternative soul singer Bez.
Among the audience were Nollywood actors and celebrities like Omawumi, Richard Mofe Damijo, Bovi, Dr. Sid and Simi Esiri, among others.
Asa, who performed for two hours, thrilled her fans with many of her popular tracks such as “Awe”, “Satan Be Gone”, “Fire On The Mountain”, “Bibanke” and even performed a duet with songwriter/music producer Cobhams Asuquo to Beyonce’s “Halo”. As she kept all the energy levels in the hall high, the audience sang and danced along with her.
Asa thanked her fans and the organizers for the turnout at the event, describing it as “massive”. According to the 33-year-old singer, despite her numerous feats in different parts of the world, she has dreamt so much of coming to perform in Nigeria – her home country.
“It’s been a long journey which sometimes was painful but I thank God I am finally here. I have really been busy, touring everywhere but there’s nowhere like home. I’m glad I’m finally here,” Asa said.
The concert also enjoyed live recording which organizers said will be made available in compact disks for easy accessibility by members of the public.
