When you set a clear intention for your life, you create a path for yourself and everything that you experience in your life moves you along that path—sometimes slowly, sometimes quickly, but you will move.
Nothing is random and everything is essential. It’s all part of the path, and to avoid any of it because it’s hard or uncomfortable will only slow you down.
You’re certainly not alone in this. Everyone’s path through life is a mix of pleasure and pain, loss and gain, and hope and fear. All of these states of being are interdependent and cannot exist without each other. No one state of being is better than another; they are all play an equal part in your life’s experience and all will be a part of your path—10,000 joys and 10,000 sorrows.
The artistic path is no different. It’s filled with at least that many joys and sorrows, and peaks and valleys. Every play you’re ever in has a path that contains the joy of getting the part, the agony of the tough rehearsals where you feel as if you’ll never crack the character, all the way to the ecstasy of watching it all come together opening night.
