Channing Dungey has been announced as exiting Paul Lee’s replacement as president of ABC Entertainment, making her its first African American president.
Formerly ABC executive VP, drama development, movies & miniseries, Dungey is a UCLA grad who began her career in entertainment as a development assistant for Davis Entertainment at 20th Century Fox. She then became story editor at Steamroller Productions, and followed that up by joining Warner Bros. as a production executive. In 1998, she became senior VP at film production company Material, and then then president in 2001.
