  • #Nollywood Entertainment #Nigeria News: Ojayy Wright Reveals Why He’s Doing Street Music

Rising Afro pop star and son of popular Nollywood actress, Bukky Wright, Ojayy Wright, may not have been lucky breaking into the Nigerian music scene after he released his debut single, “Hello” few years ago.

But with his latest street anthem, “Kritical265 (Ise Ti Key),” already ruling the airwaves, the budding singer is indeed on the path to write his name in gold.

Ojayy is optimistic that “Kritical265,” which he coined after partying hard at one of the popular relaxation centres, Quilox Club in Lagos, has the magic to launch him properly into the mainstream Nigerian music scene.

“Kritical265” is the first single the budding singer would be dropping under his mother’s label, ‘Wright Media International’ in collaboration with Barcodes Music Group.

Before now, Ojayy who relocated back to the country in 2014, after graduating from Rutgers University in New Jersey, where he studied Biological Sciences, is known to be an RnB artiste, but has since dumped the genre as he now embraced the popular street music.

Revealing why he dumped his preferable RnB genre of music for the now ‘street music,’ Ojayy said he was pressured to do street music because it is what brings money and fame.

“We wanted a club banger, and people said my previous singles sounded too foreign. I use to sing more, but at this point in time, everyone is saying it’s the street that is bringing the money so we had to do a club song for the street,” he said.

“I was pressured into this kind of making this kind of song. Like the first day I had issues with this song but we kept going at it. It’s not like I can’t make it, but it’s not just my style. I’m the kind of person that loves to get out of my comfort zone, this is one of it but generally, in music, you have to be able to diversify.”

On what will happen to his RnB music, he said, “I have a lot of songs, it’s a process. Like my next single now, it’s totally different from this, it’s the RnB you are looking for and I have been able to tune it down to Nigerian sound,” he added.

The budding talent in the single also sings about partying with beautiful divas, traveling to different countries and enjoying luxury lifestyle. In the music video of “Kritical265,” Jide Kosoko and Bukky Wright displayed their comic characters to portray the beauty of the top-notch visuals shot by RuffIkonz Films, who creatively interpreted the content of the audio produced by Eben Jazz into pleasurable visuals.
