The countdown to Africa’s biggest film awards, the Africa Magic Viewers Choice Awards (AMVCAs) is winding down with the event taking place tonight.
Nigeria’s favourite destination for the rich and famous, Victoria Island in Lagos will play host to what is expected to the biggest edition of the awards show known for it’s fabulous red carpet moments, glitz, and glamour.
Last night, the countdown to the awards show was finished off with a nominees’ cocktail which saw some of those nominated rub shoulders with media and key industry players at the Eko Hotel.
The likes of Nolywood big screen stars such as Ramsey Nouah, Genevive Nnaji as well as super heartthrob Van Vicker were in attendance, looking every bit the Nollywood royalty that they are.
From South Africa, producer of ‘Happiness is a Four Letter Word’, Bongiwe Selane told The Namibian that the nomination of two of her short films, is a dream come true.
“I am very happy about our nominations, we tried very hard to spread the message for people to vote but at this point, being nominated means much more already,” she said.
Top executives and representatives from Multichoice Africa, Nigeria and South Africa were also in attendance of the pay TV company’s largest continental showcase of home-grown talent.
