  • #Nollywood Entertainment #Nigeria News: Actor, Dele Odule Clamours for Community Cinemas, Town Hall Shows

Veteran actor, Dele Odule, on Wednesday called for the revival of town hall shows and building of more film show centres to boost entertainment industry.

Odule told NAN in Lagos that films and live performances in town halls had gone moribund in the country.

He advised the three tiers of government and Nollywood practitioners to support the revival of town hall stage shows to improve the sector.

“It was a popular thing in the past when movies are usually first played on stage before going on air, but reverse is the case now.

“It will be a good thing if Nolywood actors and actresses go back to the olden days of stage play before going on air,” Odule advised.

According to him, lack of film centres in the country has impeded the growth of the industry.

Odule added that the inauguration of film centres would afford young artists the opportunities to exhibit their talents and creative abilities learnt in schools or on the job.

He said that the Nigerian film industry had the potential to be better than Bollywood and Hollywood if there were film villages to train young artists.

“Establishment of film centres will help to develop and boost the image of Nigeria entertainment industry.

“Most of the developing countries that produce quality movies have several film centres where they train their artists.

“The industry will grow if the government can assist in establishing film centres in the country,” he said.

Odule expressed optimism that if government established film centres in the country, Nigeria movies would be have better quality than that of its counterparts.
